Your limited company's key duties and deadlines
A limited company has more filing duties than a sole trader. We track every date for you.
| Duty | Deadline |
|---|---|
| Annual accounts to Companies House | Usually 9 months after your accounting period ends (first accounts differ) |
| Company Tax Return (CT600) to HMRC | 12 months after your accounting period ends |
| Pay your corporation tax | 9 months and 1 day after your accounting period ends |
| Confirmation statement to Companies House | At least once every 12 months |
| VAT returns (if registered) | Usually one month and 7 days after each quarter |
| Payroll (RTI) and pension duties | On or before each payday |
New Companies House identity checks
New for directors: under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, Companies House now requires directors and people with significant control (PSCs) to verify their identity. This is being rolled out from late 2025, and your company will need to confirm it on your confirmation statement. We keep you on top of the new rules and help your directors get verified. See verifying your identity for Companies House on GOV.UK
Pay yourself the smart way
As a company director you can usually take a mix of salary and dividends, and the right balance can make a real difference to your tax bill. We plan this with you each year, alongside pension contributions and other allowances, so you extract profit efficiently and stay compliant. This joins up directly with your director Self Assessment and your corporation tax.
